Rules of admission procedure for 2023 and tuition fees ~ Palacky University( Czech, Olomouc City)
As we will start accepting applications for next year’s admissions soon (1st November), I am writing to inform you about some changes in our admissions procedure for next year. I have summarised all details about the procedure below, with changes marked in red so that you do not miss them.
As far as our entrance examination goes, we will still be offering the option of holding the exam online, if you prefer. If you only have a small number of students applying, they are very welcome to join one of the online exam dates organised directly by us. We expect to hold one such exam every month between March and June. Specific dates will be posted on our webpage once they are confirmed.
We no longer use paper tests, so if the exam is to be held on site, please arrange for the exam to be held in a computer laboratory or instruct your students to bring their own laptops/tablets. Also please make sure there is good internet connection.
As always, our entrance exam include three science tests:
Biology – 25 questions
Chemistry – 42 questions
Physics – 35 questions OR Mathematics – 10 questions.
All questions are multiple choice.
Students have 50 minutes to complete each test, with 10 minute breaks between individual tests.
All questions are evaluated with one or two points, and the result is converted to percentage. The minimum passing criteria is 165 percentage points as a total result for the three science tests.
There is no minimum required mark per each test next year, only the total result will be considered.
Students are advised to see the topics to study and recommended literature.
Language test – 50 questions (multiple choice), 45 minutes to complete
Minimum required mark is 60%
The following students will be exempt from the language test:
Passport holders of native English speaking countries
Students who have completed (or are completing) their secondary or tertiary education in English (a letter from their school, confirming the medium of instruction is/was English should be uploaded in the application as proof of English proficiency)
IELTS certificate holders - min. score 6
TOEFL certificate holders - min. score 87
Cambridge English certificate holders - min. B2 (FCE)
PTE Academic certificate holders - min. score 59
Psychometric Entrance Test (PET)
An interview in which students who pass the science tests (and the language test, if they are required to take it) are to take part, can get the applicant up to 30 points. Study motivation and aptitude are assessed, as well as grasp of English (non-native English speakers).
Applications can be submitted from 1st November 2022 from the following webpage.
Application deadline is always two weeks before the agreed entrance examination date.
If you submit applications on behalf of your students, please do not forget that the same log in details used for applications are used to access the entrance exam - you will need to give your students their application log in details prior to the entrance examination.
Exam results and offers of admission are posted in each respective application (section “documents”), so your students either need to be able to access their applications themselves or you will need to download the aforesaid documents from each individual application and forward them to your students. At the point of enrolment, students are also required to set up their access to the university information system from their applications and to apply for their university student ID cards.
Tuition fees
The faculty has made a decision to increase tuition fees in both study programmes from next academic year 2023/2024 as follows:
General Medicine - EUR 12,500 per year
Dentistry – EUR 14,000 per year
Students are guaranteed that their tuition fees will stay the same throughout their entire period of studies, so the new amount only applies to students enrolling from September 2023, not to our existing students.
